For the Big Game fisherman the waters of Southern Africas’ Coastline provide a spirited challenge, with the deep zones of the continental shelf being home to species such as Marlin, Sailfish, Barracuda, Tuna, King fish and Queen fish. Deep sea fishing launches are available from St. Lucia and Sodwana Bay. Lake Sibaya, Kosi Bay, Cape Vidal and Lake St Lucia are well-loved fishing spots and a favourite amongst anglers not only for the good fishing, but for the tranquil settings. Grunter, Kob, Perch and Shad may be bagged. There is Tiger fishing at Lake Jozini.
Sodwana Bay is considered one of the world’s top 10 diving spots because of its spectacular Coral Reef and over a thousand species of fish, Whales, Sharks, Manta Rays and Giant Morays. The Marine reserve lies adjacent to Africa’s southern-most Coral Reefs.
The iSimangoliso Wetland Park also incorporates the Maputaland and St Lucia Marine Reserves which are linked to form a continuous protected area stretching 150km from the Mozambique border southwards to Cape Vidal and 3 nautical miles out to sea.
